When using Surefire flashlights, it is essential to remove the outer spring. This applies to the Surefire 6P, 6Z, Z2, G2, M2, M951, and M952 models.

Similarly, for SolarForce L2/L2P/L2T/L2N/L2M/L2I/L2R/L2D/L2X, Lumaforce LF1 and LF2 series, Pelican M6 series, and WF-501A/501B/501C/501D/502B/502C/502D/503B/504B/505B, C1, L2, C309, G60, G90, and G120, the outer spring should be removed.

For the Surefire M951 and M952 flashlights, the adjustment process is slightly different. These models have a different amount of space in the bezel end compared to most Surefire lights that use P60 drop-ins. To properly fit the light, the large outer spring must be removed by pulling it to the rear. Additionally, the central (positive) spring must be elongated slightly to ensure it makes contact with the positive (button top) end of the top CR123A battery. Exercise caution when stretching the small (center) spring, as it is not designed to withstand excessive pressure against the solder joint.

For the Surefire G2 flashlight, the adjustment is necessary due to its polycarbonate housing, which does not conduct electricity like an aluminum body flashlight. Surefire lines the battery compartment with a metal tube to complete the electrical circuit from the battery. To ensure the LED lamp base makes proper contact with the metal tube, use pliers to cut almost one full circle of the outer spring and try to install the bulb. If the head cannot close completely, continue cutting the circle until it fits perfectly.
